For the second time in a 16-day span, a norovirus in Rice Lake has, according to this story, made people ill.
Randy Wilson of the Barron County Health Department, was cited as saying that days after 296 people attended a wedding reception Nov. 4 in Rice Lake, several guests experienced diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and nausea.
Wilson said all the guests who live in Barron County have been interviewed, and about 40 percent of those people became sick. He also is aware of a high number of sick guests who live in Washburn County.
The first case of norovirus in Rice Lake surfaced after a potluck dinner Oct. 19, when 18 people became sick.
A recent norovirus outbreak at Sacred Heart Hospital sickened 32 patients and staff in one area of the hospital.
Among the guests at the wedding party, one person from Minnesota has been hospitalized, Wilson said.
